Media Center / Events: Upcoming Events The City of Austin Small Business Development Program offers classes on a regular basis for starting and growing a business. While not all classes are specifically focused on bio or life sciences, many provide useful information for any new or growing business. 2010 BIO-RELATED CALENDAR OF EVENTS FEBRUARY Wednesday, February 3 The students and career services of The University of Texas at Austin invite you to participate in the second annual Bioscience and Biotechnology Symposium (BABS) on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, where you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with science and engineering students with experience and interest in the biomedical, biotechnology and life sciences industries. Last year more than 150 students attended the event and 40 presented posters on their research. The symposium will include short talks by industry representatives, a student poster session, and a networking career fair. BABS is a free event for interested employers, organized by graduate and undergraduate students in the Cockrell School of Engineering (including biomedical and chemical engineering) and in the College of Natural Sciences (including biochemistry, chemistry, biology), with the support of career services. Many of our students have expressed the need for more contact with bioscience and biotechnology employers on campus, and have felt underrepresented at large career fairs. Students pursuing degrees related to bioscience and biotechnology would like to have more opportunities to network with employers in their field. We particularly invite scientists and engineers from your organization to participate in evaluating student posters. Register now! We look forward to seeing you at the symposium! Please feel free to contact us with questions. BioAustin BioBash Monday - Thursday, February 22-25 The conference is specifically designed for individuals involved in the science and regulation of drug discovery and drug product development.
